SOUNDPROOFING OF CEILING. BASIC VERSION.

Soundproofing of ceiling takes 7-8 cm.

PROCESS CHART:

Step 1

Before starting works related to soundproofing of the ceiling, examine the ceiling thoroughly for cracks. Cracks have to be pointed and filled up with cement and sand grout (CSG).

Examine locations where slabs adjoin walls. If any gaps are discovered, they have to be eliminated as well.

Step 2

Mount the frame of single-level suspended ceiling using KNAUF CP 60/27 mm ceiling profile elements. Load-bearing profiles should be attached to the ceiling by means of   VibroStop PRO  vibration mounts.

Guide elements of the frame must not adjoin the walls rigidly. Apply two layers of MaxForte damping tape under guide profiles.

Important! After the frame has been assembled, unscrew the concrete nails from KNAUF CP 27/28 mm guide profiles.

Step 3

Fill the space between the metal frame studs tightly with MaxForte-ECOplate 60 kg/m3 sound absorbing material.

Step 4

Mount sheathing materials in the following sequence:

а. Gypsum fiberboard (GF) 10mm in thickness (or gypsum plasterboard 12.5 mm in thickness).

b. Treat the seams between the GF sheets with MaxForte silicone sealant.

c. Gypsum plasterboard (GP) 12.5 mm in thickness.

Seam spacing should be ensured: joints between GF sheets and joints between GP sheets should be placed apart at a distance equal to half of the sheet width.

d. Joints between GP sheets have to be puttied.

Two layers of MaxForte damping tape should be applied between the sheathing sheets and the walls. 

After the ceiling soundproofing has been mounted, cut off the protruding damping tape and treat the seams along the perimeter (i.e. where the soundproofing structure adjoins the walls, the floor and the ceiling) with MaxForte non-drying vibroacoustic sealant. The use of sealing foam is not allowed!
